Yushiro (愈ゆ史し郎ろう Yushirō?) is Tamayo’s traveling companion and a close ally of Tanjiro Kamado. He was turned into a demon by Tamayo.
One who never gives to others will one day be unable to receive anything from them. Wanting only is ultimately the same thing as having nothing…because we are incapable of creating anything. What a pity to die alone.

Appearance
Yushiro has the appearance of a young boy with pale skin and lavender purple eyes. He has short, neatly styled hair that fades vertically from a light, dull green to black. Yushiro wears a button down shirt under a white kimono and dark blue pants.
Personality
From his first appearance, it is evident that he has a short temper and an arrogant attitude, looking down on most people around him. During his first conversation with Tanjiro, he even begins by insulting Nezuko Kamado for being an eyesore. He is usually depicted scowling and rarely smiling except when talking about or admiring Tamayo, whom he is in love with. He is only interested in Tamayo and hates when others stop him from spending time with her, and dislikes not being around her for even a minute. In fact, he cares so little about others (and only Tamayo) that when Tanjiro and Nezuko are fighting two demons trying to kill them, Yushiro suggests that Tamayo use Tanjiro and Nezuko as decoys to flee from the demon, a suggestion that horrifies Tamayo. Although Yushiro claimed he was joking to appease her, it’s obvious he meant it sincerely. He hates when others get too close to Tamayo, express the slightest attraction, or perceive someone insulting him. He himself tends to adore her. He seems to feel insulted when Tanjiro suggests that all demons have trouble controlling their desire to feast on humans, asking Tanjiro if he thinks all demons are so bloodthirsty. Despite this, he can show respect to others, as he took down his comment about Nezuko being an eyesore and calling her pretty. He also covered Tanjiro’s mouth to prevent him from inhaling Tamayo’s scent, which is poisonous. Story
Yushiro was a human who was under Tamayo’s care while she practiced as a doctor. He was in a fragile state, battling an illness, when Tamayo gave him the choice to succumb to his illness or live longer as a Demon. He agreed to become a Demon and has since remained by Tamayo’s side as an assistant and guard.
Synopsis
Asakusa Arc
Yushiro and Tamayo first appear to Tanjiro after he first meets Muzan, though he seems visibly irritated. Yushiro is then seen waiting for Tanjiro in front of a food stand. He then insults Nezuko, which angers Tanjiro. Yushiro ignores him and drives him to Tamayo’s clinic, where she treats the woman who was injured. When Tanjiro asks Tamayo if dealing with humans is uncomfortable, Yushiro punches him and yells at him for it, but Tamayo kindly rebukes him. He then sits quietly until Tanjiro, who is surprised that Tamayo turned Yushiro into a demon, asks Tamayo’s age, to which he reacts and punches Tanjiro again. She scolds him again, more sternly this time, and he then sits down quietly.
He is the first to notice Susamaru and Yahaba when they attack the house and protects Tamayo when Susamaru’s ball goes through the roof. However, he has his head taken off right after realizing that the demons are Muzan’s minions. While Tanjiro fights the two demons, Tamayo holds his body while Yushiro pushes his head away. Yushiro begins to scream that the more people hidden under his Blood Demon Art, the harder it is to hide. He also yells that he hates that his time with Tamayo is interrupted.
Yushiro and Tamayo are hit by the bullet multiple times before he tells Tanjiro to avoid the arrow patterns. He sends a paper talisman to Tanjiro and shares his sight through said paper talisman.
Legacy
After the final battle against Muzan, Yushiro became the last known survivor of the demon race. In time, he devoted himself to an artistic life and became a painter known worldwide as Yushiro Yamamoto (山やま本もと 愈ゆ史し郎ろう Yamamoto Yushirō?), known for his paintings of Tamayo, which were widely critically acclaimed. He is known as a mysterious figure with infamy for his aggressiveness towards reporters who seek to interview him.
He drew at least 812 works of Tamayo, the 812th, Tamayo with dark blue flowers, being, according to Yoshiteru Agatsuma, his first love.
Romantic relationship
Tamayo
Yushiro is in love with Tamayo and will do anything to protect her. He finds Tamayo very beautiful. He is very obsessed with her and attacks and insults anyone who comes near her except him. Upon learning of Tamayo’s death at the hands of Muzan, Yushiro becomes enraged, as evidenced by his suddenly elongated fangs.
In modern times, it is evident that Yushiro is still alive but has taken up a profession as a painter by painting pictures of Tamayo as he still has great respect and loyalty to her after all these years.
When a crow came to visit Tamayo, he sensed that she was disturbed. Yushiro was cleaning and fell down the stairs.
Nezuko Kamado
The actress Nezuko pats Yushiro’s head, while the latter is embarrassed. At first, Nezuko feels threatened by Yushiro’s presence as she senses that he is a demon; however, after realizing that he has no intention of harming her or Tanjiro, she no longer perceives him as a threat and stops distrusting him.
Yushiro initially views her as “unsightly”, as he believes all Demons to be disgusting and grotesque, with the exception of Tamayo, his master and the object of his undying love. However, after fighting side by side during the attack on their hidden clinic by Yahaba and Susamaru, he revises his opinion of her and calls her beautiful. Similarly, Nezuko regards Yushiro as one of her younger siblings and begins patting him on the head, much to his dismay.
Tanjiro Kamado
At first, the two don’t get along well, as Tanjiro asked her how old she was, and they argue. But later in the story, they respect each other, going so far as to tell Tanjiro how much he admires Tamayo.
Abilities
Yushiro is a demon of unknown strength, although having lived under Tamayo for a long time, who is herself a deceptively strong demon who could severely weaken Muzan, it is assumed that Yushiro is also a competent fighter. For his part, Yushiro is more of a support fighter who aids others with his powers to allow them to discern things unseen or mask the presence of his allies. Most impressively, Yushiro is strong enough to fight against Muzan for command of a demon, albeit with help from the Demon Slayers to interrupt Muzan’s concentration.
supernatural abilities
Curse Immunity : As a Demon created by Tamayo who severed his bond with Muzan, Yushiro is by default not bonded to him and is therefore immune to Muzan’s control, preventing the Demon Lord from exerting any influence on him, such as destroying him from a distance or reading his thoughts.
Body Modification : Through unknown surgical procedures, Yushiro’s body was adapted to live with minimal consumption of human blood and not have the urge to hunt humans. Tamayo stated that Yushiro needed less blood than her to sustain life.
Medical Skills : As Tamayo’s assistant, Yushiro is also a medical expert who is well versed in his techniques and special medicines. He was able to revive a nearly dead Tanjiro, allowing the latter to fight again.

Headband (目め隠かくし Mekakushi?): Yushiro’s Blood Demon Art grants him the ability to mask or reveal the presence of something using a paper talisman.
- Sight Manipulation : He can completely hide the entrance to Lady Tamayo’s clinic in Asakusa, but could not completely hide its existence from Yahaba’s Koketsu Spire. To counter it, Yushiro can reveal Yahaba’s hidden arrows and bestow this power on Tanjiro as well. Yushiro also possesses the ability to turn invisible using this ability.
- Manipulation of Presence : Later, during the battle against Muzan, it appears that his powers have grown considerably, allowing Demon Slayers to cloak their presence and see each other while using his papers, thus giving them ways to gain an advantage against the Demon Lord himself.
- Mind Control : Yushiro is able to hypnotize an individual with his blindfold and take control of them. If used on a Demon, he is able to use their techniques through them. The control he wields over them is not only mental but also physical, as evidenced by his brief fight with Muzan for Nakime, where both sides controlled his body as they battled for command. Yushiro was able to fight Muzan by absorbing his cells through Nakime, implying that Yushiro manipulates his victims on a cellular level. Yushiro needs to be near his target to control it.
