Wakuraba (病わくら葉ば Wakuraba) was a member of the Twelve Kizuki, having held the position of lower rank three (下か弦げんの参さん Kagen no San?).

Appearance

Wakuraba was a man of average stature with pale, grayish-white skin, with what appeared to be three large cross-shaped scars on his cheeks and in the center of his forehead, and pointed ears worthy of an elf. His eyes were wide and pointed with orange irises, the kanji for “Three” carved into his left, as well as short black hair and a widow’s crest.

Wakuraba wore a polka-dot, bamboo-colored yukata with a striped pattern, a dark piece of cloth around the waist and a lighter one around the neck, as well as two golden circle-shaped earrings in each ear and a pair of wooden sandals with black straps.

Personality

Among the lower rank soldiers, Wakuraba is one of the most loyal to Muzan Kibutsuji. Despite Muzan brutally executing two of his low-ranking comrades, he thinks only of bettering himself to live up to Muzan’s expectations and win back his favor. However, Wakuraba seemed to believe in self-preservation above all else and did not blindly obey Muzan. He did not wish to be killed by him, although he generally respected his leader’s decisions, and fled when he realized that Muzan had no intention of leaving the members of the lower ranks.

After all the remaining Low Ranks gather at Infinity Castle, Muzan appears before them in her female form. He looks at them with annoyance and asks them to lower their heads and squat in front of him. After they all comply, Mukago says she’s sorry she was ordered to bow, as she didn’t recognize Muzan in his current form. Muzan angrily asks her why she is speaking without permission, ordering her to shut up and not speak unless asked a question directly. As she cowers in fear at her feet, Muzan explains the death of Rui, the only Lower Rank who was not among those gathered before him, and asks the remaining Demons why they are so weak.

Muzan explains to them that being in the ranks of the Twelve Kizuki is not the end, but only the beginning of what is to come. He states that their only purpose is to consume blood so they can be of use to him. Muzan angrily retorts that it’s been hundreds of years since the Upper Ranks have been replaced, while the Lower Ranks are all the time, to which Kamanue figures to himself that he can’t just tell them that. Afterwards, Wakuraba thinks to himself that he too is going to be killed, and so he must do more to retain his position as Low Rank, and, simultaneously, Mukago thinks that she is running away every time she hears talk about a Hashira. Muzan repeats Mukago’s thoughts out loud, and a terrified Mukago exclaims that what she thought is not true and that she would fight with her life on the line for him. Muzan asks her if she is denying what he said, and as Mukago begins to apologize and cry, another blow from Muzan’s tentacles crushes her to the ground, killing her.

Shocked by this, Wakuraba immediately assumes the worst and decides it would be wiser to flee than to stay if he wants to keep his life. He rushes out of the Infinity Castle at high speed, and Enmu figures it was a stupid move to make since Muzan will kill him anyway. This conclusion turns out to be correct, as Wakuraba’s head is quickly severed, so quickly that he wonders how he died in his final moments and thinks Enmu will be next to go after the Lower Two is killed.

Demon Abilities

Little is known about Wakuraba’s strength and abilities as a Demon, but it can be assumed that he possessed more power than an average Demon and was stronger than Rui, Kamanue, and Mukago, since he got a lower Kizuki position than them.

• Regeneration – As a member of the lower ranks, he received a greater amount of Muzan’s blood compared to an average Demon, which presumably gave him greater regenerative power than others. However, he lacked the power to regrow his body after being beheaded by Muzan, the latter having destroyed the former’s cells.
