Tanjiro Kamado is a fictional character who appears in the manga demon Slayer: Kimetsu not Yaiba as the primary protagonist. Tanjiro is a teen on a mission to restore the humanity of his sister, Nezuko, who was turned into a demon when her family was slaughtered by Muzan Kibutsuji after an attack in which her other relatives were killed. Tanjiro is recruited by Giyu Tomioka, a demon hunter, to assist his sister become human again and avenge her family after a confrontation with Giyu Tomioka, a demon killer.
Tanjiro also appears in a light novel that serves as a precursor to the manga, in addition to the ufotable demon Slayer: Kimetsu not Yaiba anime adaptation. Tanjiro was created by Gotouge in response to their publisher’s advice that he have a brilliant main character who would stand out in his dark plot. When deciding how the character should look, he was influenced by Himura Kenshin from Nobuhiro Watsuki’s manga Rurouni Kenshin. Tanjiro is voiced by Natsuki Hanae in Japanese and Zach Aguilar in English in the anime series. Because of his compassionate personality and bond with his sister while also being a great fighter, the character has been warmly regarded by manga and anime critics. As a result of his celebrity, the protagonist got several honors, including one for Hanae’s performance.
