Like Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen offers outstanding animation, an intriguing cast of characters, terrifying curses, fantastic mentors like Gojo Satoru to guide the heroes, and much more.
Unlike Demon Slayer, this series takes place in modern civilization, where negative human emotions unleash tremendous curses and otherworldly monsters that can only be defeated by trained jujutsu wizards like Yuji and his pals. The anime has a 24-episode season and a movie, and season 2 is scheduled to air in winter 2023. The manga has even more content, and it’s selling almost as well as Demon Slayer’s.
Bleach is the older cousin of Demon Slayer.
Bleach, a prominent anime series created by Tite Kubo, is one of the original “big three,” and fans of Demon Slayer will see many parallels between the two franchises. Monster hunters carrying swords must safeguard humanity from terrible animals in both stories. These hunters in Bleach are black-robed soul reapers who seek bad spirits known as Hollows. Kurosaki Ichigo is the protagonist, a seemingly regular human teenager who inherits the abilities of a soul reaper one terrible night, and his monster-hunting adventures begin.
Also, Ichigo’s journey to Soul Society and the deserts of Hueco Mundo have some isekai elements, and Bleach has its own version of the Kizuki, the ten deadly Espadas, or unmasked Hollows with their own swords. The Bleach anime has been canceled, but the manga is complete and the anime will return soon with the “Thousand-Year Blood War” arc, just in time for Demon Slayer fans to try something new.

InuYasha is all about demons and Japanese swords
Rumiko Takahashi, who previously wrote the comic series Ranma 1/2 and Maison Ikkoku, is the author of InuYasha, an old but beloved manga. Higurashi Kagome, a 1990s student, and her adventures down the well in feudal Japan, which is overrun by monsters, star in this early modern isekai anime. InuYasha’s “Muzan” is the greedy demon king Naraku, who wishes to take InuYasha’s lover Kikyo and become the most powerful monster in all of existence, and he is backed by a horde of demons.
Demon Slayer fans will love InuYasha’s colorful variety of monsters and characters, not to mention the classic Japanese setting and delicate balance of humor, drama, and action. The original series is complete and a sequel, YashaHime, is currently underway.
Fire Force is a steampunk Demon Slayer
Fire Force is a series written by Atsushi Okubo, who also wrote Soul Eater. The manga concludes with the final chapter, although the anime contains two seasons of 24 episodes each. It’s a “monster hunter” anime in the spirit of Demon Slayer, with the exception that the action takes place in a futuristic, steampunk world that has been rebuilt following a cataclysm that destroyed everything. Shinra Kusakabe and Maki Oze, for example, must now risk their lives to battle monsters known as Infernals, or humans suffering from spontaneous combustion, and purify their souls.
But there’s more to it than that. Shinra is also up against the Ashen Flame Cult, a doomsday cult whose mission is to purify the world through a second apocalypse in the name of its enigmatic evangelist leader. Shinra’s fight is personal because his younger brother Sho has been kidnapped by the cult, and Shinra must save him. Fans of Demon Slayer may be reminded of Tanjiro and Nezuko’s relationship.
