Never give up thinking. With relentless effort, you can end up breaking through any wall.Tanjuro Kamado to Tanjiro Kamado in The Sound of the Bells on a Moonlit Snowy Night.
Tanjuro Kamado (竈門かまど 炭たん十じゅう郎ろう Kamado Tanjūrō?) was the husband of Kie Kamado and the father of Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, Takeo Kamado, Hanako Kamado, Shigeru Kamado and Rokuta Kamado.
Tanjuro suffered from an illness that made his skin dull, pale, and very fragile. It is noted that he has a similar appearance to his son Tanjiro, sporting the same dark red eyes, black hair with red tips, and a scar on his forehead.
Tanjiro also wore an outfit similar to his son’s, but with an orange and black patterned haori instead of dark turquoise and black. The earrings he wore while alive were passed down to him by his ancestor, and then later by Tanjiro.
When performing the Ritual Kagura Dance, Tanjiro would take on the appearance of an Iwami Kagura dancer with a long-sleeved dark brown robe with gold and crimson red frames and a large headband covering his entire face with the kanji of flames (炎?) written on it. He also wielded a wooden blade giving the appearance of the kanji (出で de?) meaning sunrise.
Tanjuro was a calm, calculating, forgiving, charismatic, and loving person. He maintained a peaceful relationship with his family and regularly lectured Tanjiro about life.
Although he appeared calm on the outside, he exhibited a decent and noble aura with a quiet perception of his surroundings. According to his son, he didn’t like to show off or show his true abilities to others. However, if his family is in danger, he does not hesitate to protect them and shows no mercy towards the enemy.
At some point in his life, Tanjuro married Kie and had their six children.
Tanjuro seemed to have some connection to the demon slayer world, but in his later years he was a wise man but sick and frail.
He died some time before the massacre of his wife and youngest children, but still managed to inspire his two remaining children.

Tanjiro has to fight Rui, Lower Rank 5, and is nearly killed by his Blood Demon Art when a flashback of his father telling him to breathe and become Hinokami resurfaces in his memories. Tanjiro remembers him and Nezuko as children watching their father perform Kagura Hinokami all night long. Tanjiro asks his mother how Tanjuro is able to perform the Hinokami Kagura during the freezing night, only to have her tell him that there is a way to breathe so he can dance regardless of the temperature. Tanjuro then tells Tanjiro to make sure that the hanafuda earrings and the kagura pass on uninterrupted no matter what. Tanjiro then switches from the Tenth Form, Water Breathing: Constant Flow, to using the Hinokami Kagura, Dance.

Mark of the Demon Slayer : As a descendant of the Kamado Family and able to access the “Transparent World”, Tanjuro’s birthmark on his forehead is secretly a Mark of the Demon Slayer. This is proven by Shinjuro’s explanation that all Sun Breathing users naturally have a mark on their forehead.

- (To Tanjiro Kamado) “Thank you, Tanjiro. But in recent years, I didn’t feel Kagura was difficult. It’s strange. When I learned Kagura from your grandfather, I was younger, healthier and stronger than I am now…but back then I was getting out of breath and finding it difficult. I guess it was because I was doing a lot of unnecessary movements. What is important is good breathing and good control, making the most efficient movements to exert the greatest amount of force. When you do that… your head gradually becomes clear” (to Tanjiro Kamado) “In the beginning, you have to learn the movements and the sensitivities. You have to assimilate them. You open your five senses, you become aware of your own body down to each blood vessel. This period is really trying, and you’ll think that no matter how hard you fight, you won’t be able to go any further. After learning and absorbing many things, you eliminate what is useless. You leave only what is necessary in your movement and you close yourself. »
- (To a large bear) “I’m sorry you’re hungry but I won’t let you come any closer. I will show no mercy to anyone who would harm my family…no matter what the odds. Heed my warning…or I’ll steal your life. »
