The Sword Village Arc (刀かたな鍛か冶じ里さと編へん Katanakaji Sato-hen?) is the ninth arc of Kimetsu no Yaiba.
Synopsis
Tanjiro goes to the Swordsman Village to replace his sword as Hotaru Haganezuka is tired of repairing it.
On his arrival, he is taken directly to Tecchin Tecchikawahara, the village chief. He reveals to Tanjiro that Hotaru disappeared not too long ago. He then takes Tanjiro to the hot springs in the village, to help his body heal.
At the hot springs, he meets Mitsuri Kanroji, the hashira of love, and his fellow demon slayer, Genya Shinazugawa. After spending some time with Mitsuri, she tells him that there is a secret weapon hidden in the village that makes people stronger. Tanjiro wonders what it is, but only briefly. After wandering around the forest for a short time, he encounters the foggy Hashira, Muichiro Tokito who is arguing with a child. From a distance, he understands that he is asking for a key, and sees that he ends up hitting the child. Tanjiro intervenes and stops the Hashira, he in turn is knocked out and passes out. He wakes up moments later and learns that the kid ended up giving the key to Muichiro to get him to leave. He explains that the key is used to activate a doll, nicknamed Yoriichi Type Zero used for training swordsmen, as its power exceeds that of humans. Muichiro uses her for training and breaks her a bit, including cutting off one of her 6 arms. This despairs the child, named Kotetsu. After consoling him, Tanjiro goes to use the doll for training, and Kotetsu offers to teach Tanjiro how to fight better.
After much training, Tanjiro inadvertently cuts off the doll’s head, revealing a 300-year-old sword. The two men pull out the sword to find that it is rusty, as no one has used it for so long. That’s when Hotaru comes in, completely covered in muscle, along with Kozo Kanamori. Hotaru takes the sword and says he will take care of the rust, and it will be Tanjiro’s new sword.
Unbeknownst to all, Hantengu, a rank four demon, arrives.
As Tanjiro and the others go about their business, Hantengu arrives and wreaks havoc. It is from this moment that the fight of Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, Genya Shinazugawa and Mitsuri Kanroji against Hantengu begins.
Meanwhile, another fight takes place: Muichiro Tokito vs Gyokko.
