Appearance

The Swamp Demon was a pale-skinned young man with long blue hair with two long purple locks on either side of his face, held up by two golden hair parters. As usual with many Demons, he had claw-like fingernails and the veins on his forehead are quite prominent, in his case, to the point of replacing his eyebrows. His eyes were red without pupils and with prominent dark pockets. As he could be divided into two Demons apart from himself, each Demon differed from the other in the number of horns and clothes. The three Demons wore shinobi clothes.

The main body had a single horn at the top center of its forehead, and wore a full, long-sleeved shinobi uniform with chainmail at the wrists and neck, with the neck chainmail having three small, centered ribbons hanging from it. There were divisions inside his uniform coat where he could keep his victims’ collection of hairpins.

The second body had two horns, one on either side of its forehead. His shinobi outfit had no sleeves, instead it had two small triangular meshes at the armpits and one large triangular mesh at the chest.

The third body had three horns, each in the position in which the other two bodies had their own horns, and wore shinobi clothing sewn with chainmail on both sides of the arms, shoulders, and chest. Under his coat, he wore a sleeveless turtleneck shirt.

Personality

By splitting into three, the Swamp Demon also split certain aspects of his personality, to the point that each behaved differently from the others.

The Main Demon was calm, analytical and collected, giving advice to others and even suggesting his second body to calm down, which is why he was considered the leader of the trio of demons. He was someone with logical thinking and proof of this is that he questioned Tanjiro’s relationship with Nezuko, which he sees as abnormal due to the behavior of demons with humans, he is also someone. ‘one who prematurely celebrated victories by telling Tanjiro that he was an idiot for willingly entering his swamp. He rarely loses his temper. He also exhibited some sociopathic behavior, targeting girls who fit a type (beautiful 16-year-old girls) and collecting trophies from doing so, in this case, the girls’ hair ornaments.

The second Demon, although having the same level of intelligence as the main one, was more violent, impulsive and emotional, it was even easy to modify it. He showed the emotions that the principal easily hid.

The third, however, unlike the others, had no visible emotions and acted more on instinct to the point of being similar to a hunting dog accompanying its hunting master, following both the main and the second. . He couldn’t even articulate a word.

Traits shared by the three are their love of abducting and eating young 16-year-old girls, their excellent teamwork, and the deep fear they had for Muzan Kibutsuji to the point that their bodies trembled at the sound of his name. They believed that after 16 years women grew old, they became ugly and their flesh tasted bad, and they even thought that they should be grateful to be devoured at this age.

Synopsis

First mission arc

Every night, in the northwestern town, another young girl disappears. One night, Kazumi and his fiancée, Satoko, are walking around town and suddenly the girl disappears. He is blamed for his sudden disappearance, but rumors circulate that a Demon lurks at night.

Tanjiro of the Demon Slayer Corps receives his first mission: to go to town and hunt down this demon. He believes Kazumi’s story and the two men spend the day looking for clues. It is only that night that the Demon becomes active again.

The Demon uses his Blood Demon Art to pull a girl named Tokie into his swampy dimension. Her scent growing stronger, Tanjiro is able to follow her to the exact spot where the Demon is holding her underground. He drives his blade into the ground, forcing the pocket portal open. He spews murky water, but Tanjiro sees the Tokie’s kimono and is able to pull her out.

A Shapeshifting Demon appears from the bog and yells at Tanjiro before disappearing again. Kazumi catches up to him late and Tanjiro asks him to hold Tokie so he can protect them. Tanjiro examines the area and possible places the Demon could appear from. Even immersed in its own swamp, the Demon’s scent does not fade.

Tanjiro can sense the Demon ready to attack, he prepares Water Breathing: Fifth Form – Blessed Rain after Drought as a parry and rushes to where the portal will appear. However, three puddles appear and three different Demons spring from the swamp. The young demon slayer jumps to avoid their grasp and calms down by changing shape. Tanjiro attempts to wipe out the three Demons using Water Breathe: Eighth Form – Waterfall Basin.

Unfortunately, because Tanjiro changed his form in a hurry, his attack was too shallow and he only manages to rip off the Demon’s arms. He calms down again, determined to make the Demon of Muzan Kibutsuji speak. The Demon attempts to go after Kazumi and Tokie, but Tanjiro protects them with Water Breathing: Second Form – Water Wheel.

Once again, Tanjiro’s attack is too shallow, but he was able to save the others. He lands two more quick hits at the demon and misses, forcing the demon to retreat. The young demon slayer can’t chase the demon or do a full hit with Kazumi and the nearby girl. The two-horned demon is not amused and demands that the demon slayer back off or the girl will lose her flavor. The Three-Horned Demon tells his other self to calm down and claims to have eaten a lot of sixteen-year-old girls already. Kazumi demands to know what the Demon did to his fiancée, only to find that he devoured her.

Enraged, Tanjiro quickly dodges the Three-Horned Demon’s surprise attack. His arm splits the wall next to Tanjiro but he jumps on top of the Demon and cuts his arm. He considers that it is missed, then realizes that he approached too close to the wall. Tanjiro turns around to avoid the attack and is forced back by an attack coming from underground. The Two-Horned Demon almost gets hit while appearing from behind, but Nezuko comes out of her box and breaks the Demon’s neck.

The Swamp Demon asks why a swordswoman accompanies a Demon. The broken two-horned individual mends its neck and they all disappear into the bog. Under Sakonji Urokodaki’s hypnotic suggestion, Nezuko regards all humans as her family, and she will fight to protect them. She rushes on the Demons coming out of the swamp and tries to crush them with a violent blow of her axe.

The Demon disappears into the swamp in time to escape his attack. They try to pull the girl away but Tanjiro asks her to come back to his side. She runs towards him and one of the Demons tries to grab her, but she easily knocks him down to avoid it. Tanjiro then realizes he can let Nezuko protect Kazumi while he concentrates on attacking.

A swamp portal opens below them as a diversion while the Two-Horned Demon goes after the girls. Nezuko protects Kazumi and fends off the Demon. Tanjiro asks Nezuko to continue protecting Kazumi while the young Demon Slayer goes underground. He descends into the swampy Demon Dimension, where there is almost no air and where the clothes of many victims are floating.

The two Demons inside the swamp think it must be hard for Tanjiro to move or breathe, and that he’s a fool for diving into it. They swim towards him at high speed, but the young demon slayer is not to be underestimated. At the top of Sagiri Mountain, where Tanjiro spent more than two years training, the air was much thinner than inside the swamp. There, Tanjiro also learned the forms of water breathing which can only unleash their full potential underwater.

The Demons pull away at a sharp angle just as Tanjiro is about to counterattack, but he knows he can just wait for them to close in again. The Demons try to hit him from a different angle, but Tanjiro can sense the threat. He uses a technique that can be unleashed with no certainty, a ferocious slashing whirlwind created by a violent twisting of his upper and lower body; Water Breathing: Sixth form – Whirlwind.

The sharp whirlwind slices the Demons to pieces, killing them instantly. Despite his victory, Tanjiro is saddened by the number of casualties the Demons have taken. The boy begins to run out of breath and swims back towards the entrance to the swamp. Meanwhile, Nezuko subdues the last remaining Demon with her bare hands.

Nezuko sneaks through four of the Demon’s strikes in a row, including a powerful hammer fist that crushes the ground. She follows up with a powerful punch to the Demon’s gut which is strong enough to make her cough up blood. The Demon manages to dodge the next punch, but he immediately gets knocked out by another punch and kick combo. The Demon attempts to slip into the bog again, but Nezuko acts quickly and delivers sweeping kicks so the Demon cannot escape. She attempts to hit him with a flying kick but he manages to block it.

Nezuko is too fast for the Demon to dive back into the swamp, but he gets used to his direct fighting style. They exchange a few blows which they manage to redirect or avoid until the Demon narrowly blocks another hard blow to the head. He is able to block her next combo, confident that he can regenerate from whatever she throws at him. The Demon lunges at Nezuko and manages to block her jab, which gives her the opportunity to slash her forehead with her claws.

The Swamp Demon attempts to finish off Nezuko by stabbing her in the face, but Tanjiro emerges from the portal in time to save his sister. Tanjiro cuts off the Demon’s arm, demanding that the Demon not raise a hand on his beloved sister. He then slices off the Demon’s other arm before he can attack again, and eventually defeats the Demon.

The last Swamp Demon collapses and realizes that his fellows have been killed. Tanjiro tells him that he gives off a terrible stench and asks him how many girls he kidnapped. The Demon tries to defend his actions by claiming he was killing girls so they wouldn’t age and taste bad. Irritated, Tanjiro cuts out the Demon’s tongue and moves on to the next question.

Tanjiro approaches his Demon Blade and forces it back against a barrier. He demands to know all the information the demon has about Muzan. However, Tanjiro is unprepared for the paralyzing fear of Muzan that the Demon has instilled in him. He cowers and shakes to the bone, saying he can’t say anything.

The smell of fear is extremely strong and the Demon acts under the influence of panic. He pushes his arms away and goes on a rampage, causing Tanjiro to chop off his head and finish him off.

Abilities

The Swamp Demon was a Demon of modest power who could use the Blood Demon Arts to his advantage. Just as Kyogai is similar to Nakime, the Swamp Demon is similar to Hantengu, with his ability to split his personality.

supernatural abilities

Blood Demon Art

Swamp Domain : The Demon’s namesake ability. He is able to conjure up a pocket swamp dimension that he can navigate freely through. The “swamp” often manifests as a puddle of water that moves across the ground and can be used to infiltrate homes and carry out kidnappings without anyone noticing. Although the puddle appears small enough to hold a person, its interior is much larger and has the properties of a real swamp. The Swamp Demon can put this swamp to his advantage by attacking targets with his great swimming ability.

Self-replicating : The Swamp Demon can be divided into three months, which are distinguished by their clothing and the number of horns on their head (from 1 to 3). The three demons can move through their own puddles and overwhelm any target with the advantage of numbers.

Triviality

  • The Swamp Demon was ranked 51st in the first character popularity poll, with 8 votes.
  • The Swamp Demon’s ability to divide his emotions and self-awareness into different bodies is similar to the art of the Upper Rank 4 Blood Demon, Hantengu.
  • Based on his attire and stealth like the Blood Demon Arts, it’s likely that the Swamp Demon was once a Shinobi, much like the Pillar of Sound, Tengen Uzui.
