Demon Slayers vs. Muzan Kibutsuji: Part 2

Demon Slayers vs Muzan Kibutsuji: Part 2 pits Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibira, Kanao Tsuyuri, Hashira Giyu Tomioka, Mitsuri Kanroji, Obanai Iguro, Gyomei Himejima, Sanemi Shinazugawa and the demon Yushiro, as well as the remaining It takes place shortly after the Castle of Infinity is destroyed.

Prologue

Kiriya Ubuyashiki realizes that Tamayo couldn’t keep Muzan at bay for long enough, and the medicine she and Shinobu devised failed to restore Muzan’s humanity. Kanata informs Kiriya that the first group of Demon Slayers has arrived at Muzan’s Flesh Cocoon’s location, and that a second group is on their way. Kiriya tells him to keep the Demon Slayers away from Muzan until the rest of the Hashira arrive. The flesh capsule in which Muzan resides is surrounded by several teams of demon slayers. A Kasugai crow orders a Demon Slayer to stand by and not engage until the Hashira arrive, as they are unaware of what is going on. Muzan emerges from his flesh cocoon with a completely different appearance, his hair much longer and silvery white due to his advanced age. He also has a number of jaws on his body, each with sharp white fangs for consuming human flesh and blood, and he holds Tamayo’s disembodied head in his right hand.

Muzan slaughters dozens of Demon Slayers who try to flee his position. Kiriya uses a crow to order them to retreat. Muzan, on the other hand, kills and consumes all of the Demon Slayers in their groups, as well as the Kasugari Raven who ordered them to retreat. Muzan says that he lost the desire to taste food as he grew older for millennia, but after starving to death after absorbing the force of the Ubuyashiki’s explosion and using its energy to nullify Tamayo’s drug, he now enjoys the taste of flesh and blood. He thanks Kagaya for “deliberately” bringing him humans to eat in order to restore his strength and stamina. Since virtually all of his subordinates have been killed, he even wants the new successor to bow down so he can turn him into a demon.

Back at the demon slayer headquarters, Kiriya orders his two younger sisters to withdraw the second demon slayer troop and maintain a safe distance from Muzan. Muzan mockingly lifts Tamayo’s disembodied head, remarking that his “human-reverting drug” did not subtly change his body. He also repeats his words that he is going to hell and that hundreds of people have said similar things to him but that it has never happened. Tamayo sobs and begs Muzan to return her husband and children, but he simply tells her to die and go to her family, whom “she” murdered. Muzan crushes Tamayo’s skull and eats his blood and cells as a result.

Yushiro loses his balance and falls into a wall while wearing his headband, leaving the Demon Slayers wondering if he’s okay. Muzan gains stamina as he continues to slaughter Demon Slayers in his path. Kiriya screams and begs the Demon Slayers to retreat so that they can’t give Muzan any more strength or food, and so that Tamayo’s sacrifice won’t be in vain. Muzan observes that each of the Twelve Kizuki has served no purpose for him, and that he will slaughter the Demon Slayer Corps himself. Kiriya panics and blames himself for giving the wrong orders and allowing Muzan Kibutsuji to slaughter all of the Demon Slayers. He then loses all concentration in order to prepare the remaining Demon Slayers to defeat Muzan. Kuina keeps calling Kiriya’s name for more orders, but he doesn’t answer, probably because he doesn’t realize she’s calling him. To Kanata’s surprise, Kuina slaps Kiriya out of his doubting state and yells at him to keep his cool, even calling him “Oyakata-sama.” She goes on to say that the fight isn’t over yet, and that no matter how successful the Demon Slayer Corps is, he still has to give orders to them. Kiriya’s confidence and concentration are restored, and he orders all of the Hashira to go to Muzan’s location right away, with all of the Demon Slayers as backup. Muzan has been fully revived, according to a crow from Kasugarigarasu, and all surviving Hashira should gather at Muzan’s location. The first to hear this message are Mitsuri Kanroji and Obanai Iguro.

Mitsuri is curious as to what she and Obanai were doing while Muzan was resurrected. Given that Muichiro Tokito and Genya Shinazugawa sacrificed themselves to defeat Kokushibo, Obanai wonders how much effort he put in. He points out that Nakime isn’t actually hurting them, but rather buying them time so that Muzan Kibutsuji can fight as few Hashira as possible. Obanai quickly grabs Mitsuri so that they can both escape the situation. Nakime uses his Blood Demon Art: Castle Manipulation to teleport Muzan Kibutsuji to Tanjiro and Giyu’s location after quickly realizing this. When Tanjiro sees Muzan in the flesh, he becomes enraged, and Giyu tells him to calm down. Muzan describes them as tenacious, which irritates him greatly because he has always viewed humans as beings who only care about avenging the deaths of their loved ones. He goes on to say that those who are alive should be grateful for their lives and should not waste them on revenge. Giyu and Tanjiro are taken aback when Muzan compares himself to a natural disaster. He makes it clear that humanity cannot exact retribution for a disaster, no matter how great the damage or the number of lives lost. Muzan, Tanjiro calmly points out, is a being who does not deserve to exist in the first place. This disgusts him to no end, because he has always thought of humans as beings who only care about avenging the deaths of their loved ones. He goes on to say that those who are alive should be grateful for their lives and should not waste them on revenge.

He makes it clear that humanity cannot exact retribution for a disaster, no matter how great the damage or the number of lives lost. Muzan, Tanjiro calmly points out, is a being who does not deserve to exist in the first place. Tanjiro can’t believe he’s never felt this cold toward a living creature before.

He notices that Muzan cannot die by decapitation after hearing Gyomei’s explanation, and tries to figure out how they can expose Muzan’s Kibutsuji to the sun. They don’t know how to get Muzan out of Infinity Castle, which is the problem. Muzan transforms his arms into long spiked tendrils that act as whips, which he hurls at Tanjiro and Giyu. To repel the flailing tendrils, Giyu uses the Eleventh Form of Water Breathing: Dead Calm, but he, like Tanjiro, is severed in several areas of his body. Muzan’s attacks, according to Tanjiro, have incredible destructive power and lethality. Tanjiro, on the other hand, maintains his tenacity and attempts to push through Muzan’s tendrils in order to injure him. While still within Muzan’s reach, one of his arms pierces Tanjiro’s right eye, knocking him to the ground. Before Muzan can use one of his tendrils to kill Tanjiro, Giyu grabs him and tells him that slashing Muzan is pointless because his strength isn’t even  comparable to the higher ranks.

Muzan mocks the Demon Slayer’s efforts to keep him at bay until sunrise, claiming that the sun cannot enter the dimensional reality of the Infinity Castle, even if three Hashira are enough to keep him at bay. This perplexes Giyu and Tanjiro, as Muzan clarifies that Nakime killed Mitsuri and Obanai by crushing both lower halves of their bodies. Muzan’s tendrils continue to attack the two Demon Slayers, and Tanjiro falls several times due to his inability to see his surroundings. Using her Love Breath, Sixth Form: Cat-Legged Winds of Love, the Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji falls through the ceiling and stops Muzan’s attack. Mitsuri believes his Love Breath attack hurt Muzan, but the Demon Lord is completely unaffected, much to Mitsuri’s surprise. Obanai appears and assists Tanjiro in getting up, telling him to leave the fight if he continues to be knocked down. Tanjiro is relieved to see Obanai and Mitsuri alive, while Muzan is both perplexed and furious that the two Hashira Nakime was supposed to kill are still alive. Yushiro uses his Blood Demon Art: Blindfold technique in front of his single eye and his fingers stuck in his skull, possibly touching his nerves, to command the Infinity Castle to the surface. Muzan calls out Nakime’s name and inquires about her current activities.

Yushiro, his eyes bloodshot, tells Muzan that taking Tamayo away from him was the greatest sin in the world. Yushiro screams in agony, warning him that unless he repents immediately, he will be wiped off the face of the earth. Giyu uses his Water Breathing, Fourth Form: Striking Tide to try to injure Muzan Kibutsuji, while Obanai uses his Serpent’s Breath, First Form: Winding Serpent Slash. This diverts Muzan’s attention away from the Hashira and the remaining Twelve Kizuki members. The floor where Muzan and the Hashira are fighting suddenly opens up, knocking everyone to the ground. Muzan raises his right arm and closes his fist, crushing the majority of Nakime’s face and skull. The Infinity Fortress crumbles as Yushiro realizes that because Nakime’s cells haven’t completely disintegrated, he can still take everyone outside.

As Mitsuri tries to use another Love Breathing technique on Muzan, who dodges it, no one can get a solid base. Muzan slashes Tanjiro through the torso with his whips and nearly kills Mitsuri by impaling her face, but Obanai shoves her out of the way, slicing only a small piece of her haori. Tanjiro also throws a javelin at Muzan’s head, completely piercing him as he did Akaza with a broken Nichirin blade from one of his fallen comrades. At the same time, the Infinity Castle pierces the surface of reality, scattering everyone in every direction. Muzan’s skull was pierced completely by a shattered Nichirin blade from one of his fallen comrades, as he did against Akaza. Battle

Tanjiro opens his eyes to the night sky, realizing that they have landed on a small town with many innocent civilians. It’s completely different from what Kiriya Ubuyashiki predicted would happen when the Infinity Castle shatters the world. Although Yushiro claims it’s a miracle they were able to reach the surface because he and Muzan were fighting over who could control Nakime. When Kiriya asks Kuina how much time is left before dawn, she pulls out a gold pocket watch and says there is an hour and a half left, sweat beading on her face. Kiriya is terrified because there is still time before sunrise. A Kasugai crow warns everyone that it will be an hour and a half before dawn. Muzan unleashes a large shockwave that pushes all the rubble back onto him as the Hashira and the other Demon Slayers emerge from the rubble. He yells angrily at the Demon Slayers, “Are you really going to keep me company until sunrise?” and then mocks them.

Obanai uses Serpent’s Breath, Third Form: Coil Choke, Mitsuri uses her Love Breath, Second Form: Love Pangs, and Giyu uses Water Breath, eighth form: Waterfall Basin to avoid Muzan’s attacks and retaliate against the Demon Lord. Obanai was able to cut Muzan’s neck with his Nichirin Blade, but it was in vain because as soon as his blade cuts Muzan’s neck, it regenerates. This perplexes Mitsuri to the point where she doubts Muzan isn’t cut, whereas Giyu is aware of Muzan’s injuries but is able to heal them instantly. Muzan seizes the opportunity to strike and eliminate all of the Hashira. Hundreds of Demon Slayers arrived just as the Hashira was about to be shredded by Muzan, willing to sacrifice themselves to save the Hashira. As the Demon Slayers continue to sacrifice themselves, one of them tells the others that they must protect the Hashira at all costs, as the Hashira have always done. Mitsuri screams at the Demon Slayers to stop because there have been far too many casualties.

Tanjiro stands up and tries to resume the fight against Muzan, but he stumbles and falls, spitting large amounts of blood. Muzan shows Tanjiro slowly dying, his eye injury turning into a large lump of flesh, implying that those injured by him are doomed. Muzan explains that his blood is infused into his tentacles, but those who are injected with his blood do not turn into demons, which greatly disturbs the Hashira, especially Giyu. Contrary to popular belief, Nezuko Kamado rises from her medical bed in front of Sakonji Urokodaki, who is caring for Tanjiro as he dies. Tengen Uzui and Shinjuro Rengoku see Nezuko running away with Sakonji close behind her, and Tengen yells at her, asking where she is going. Shinjuro informs Kiriya that Nezuko has fled, putting herself in danger of being discovered by demons and even Muzan himself.

Kiriya orders them to find Nezuko first, but a swollen hand, that of his father Kagaya Ubuyashiki, gently touches his shoulder. Kagaya asks her only son to let Nezuko go and assures him that she will be fine. Although Kiriya agrees with his sister’s statement because their father told him to, Kuina warns Kiriya that if a demon takes over Nezuko, everything will be over. As Tanjiro approaches death on the battlefield, Muzan’s attacks slash and cut the Hashira. Mitsuri survives Muzan’s barrage, and just as one of Muzan’s arm tentacles was about to impale her, a sudden impact destroys that tentacle, saving Mitsuri. Gyomei Himejima turns out to be the Demon Lord, much to everyone’s surprise. Sanemi appears behind the Demon Lord and slices him vertically as Muzan considers that the aforementioned was one of the Demon Slayers who defeated his right arm Kokushibo. The Wind Hashira throws several glasses of oil at the Demon Lord, who smashes them into small shards and spills the liquid on him as Muzan regenerates. Sanemi quickly strikes a match and throws it at the Demon, completely igniting it.

Sanemi declares that it suits him as dirty to want to smash Muzan to pieces while he is on fire. Murata is seen bruised near the battlefield by the remains of the Infinity Castle. When he sees Muzan Kibutsuji, his “family’s” arch-enemy, he wants to help everyone else defeat him. Before doing so, Giyu commands Tanjiro to be taken to a safe location and healed. With tears in his eyes, Murata realizes, while carrying Tanjiro on his back, that Giyu has finally remembered his name after so long, since they met in Final Selection. Even though they are vastly different in terms of strength and status, he believes they are still part of the same group. Tanjiro, who is still unconscious, receives memories from his ancestor, Sumiyoshi, as Murata reminisces about his thoughts and opinions. Muzan’s attacks are becoming more ferocious, putting more pressure on the Hashira.

Gyomei even mentions that due to his inability to access the “Transparent World,” avoiding the Demon Lord’s attacks with little to no injury is almost a gamble. Mitsuri, on the other hand, gets the worst of Hashira, only surviving on instinct and luck. This has a significant impact on her determination to assist Hashira in defeating Muzan; she soon plans to get behind the latter and twist his arms behind his back in order to buy time and assist others in earning a few hits on the Demon Lord, even if it means sacrificing her life. As she assesses her strategy, she realizes she is being pulled by one of Muzan’s attacks, which appears to be a cyclone until it is too late. On his left side, the attack severs multiple flesh and skin tissues, including his arms, abdomen, and cheek/cheekbone. Gyomei is perplexed as to what kind of attack it is, as he believes Mitsuri should have been able to avoid it. Obanai takes Mitsuri to another Demon Slayer and orders them to find a “member” who is carrying strange papers with text on them, with the other Hashira pressing against Muzan Kibutsuji. Obanai takes Mitsuri to another Demon Slayer and orders them to find a “member” who is carrying strange papers with text on them, with the other Hashira pressing against Muzan Kibutsuji.

Mitsuri, on the other hand, tries to persuade Obanai to let her continue fighting, claiming that she will not hold back this time and will not be a burden to anyone. Obanai quickly rejects her, claiming that she has already contributed enough to the Demon Slayer Corps’ fight against the demon race. Mitsuri sobs as Obanai rushes back to the battlefield, pleading with Obanai not to die and for no one else to die. As Mitsuri sobs, Obanai accepts inwardly that he “must die” by defeating Muzan in order to purify his blood and reincarnate as an innocent being alongside Mitsuri’s reincarnation. The bandages come undone, exposing a serpentine slit across his cheeks. Several Kakushi are seen evacuating civilians from the battlefield, informing them that buildings are on fire and that the ground is unstable. When civilians ask if they are government police, they respond affirmatively in order to avoid causing confusion and controversy.

A lone Kakushi member hears the meowing of a cat under some rubble as some Kakushi give each other information about the city’s evacuation. The Kakushi frees this cat, Chachamaru, from the rubble, and he rushes towards the Hashira battlefield without the Kakushi who saved him having time to stop him. As the Hashira continue to attack, Obanai kicks Muzan and cuts off one of his arms, preventing Muzan’s instant regeneration from reconnecting his limbs. Unfortunately, this is useless because the Demon Lord regenerates his arm at the rate of a blink. As Giyu tries to sever one of Muzan’s arms, his shattered blade flies into his hands, revealing his grip has weakened due to the former’s attacks. Obanai and Gyomei’s spiked flail intervene and stop one of Muzan’s tendrils from slashing and killing Giyu, much to Giyu’s surprise. Sanemi summons a Nichirin Blade from a dead Water Breathing user and yells at Giyu not to be defeated. He was ashamed to have let Hashira down. Even Muzan recognizes the Demon Slayer’s resistance, but he realizes it’s pointless because his poison will kill all of the Hashira long before dawn, with the rest of the night lasting only one hour and fourteen minutes.

He explains that all of their cells will be destroyed and they will die in just five minutes, rendering their maneuvers useless. Muzan slashes Chachamaru in half and decapitates her as she enters the battlefield on top of everyone, opening the leather compartment to reveal four glass vials with a lavender-colored liquid inside. Muzan’s poison symptoms are reversed as the vials are ejected onto the Hashira. This enrages and frustrates Muzan, because Tamayo continues to obstruct him even after his death. So, Obanai believes that his contribution as Hashira is the weakest of all because he believes he hasn’t dealt the Demon Lord any crucial blows. While saying this, he knows that when someone is about to die, they can unleash an explosive force, allowing him to escape from his wooden prison cell, despite the fact that he “wasn’t able to lift anything heavier than chopsticks.” He compares himself to Muichiro, who was able to change the color of his Nichirin blade before he died, which astounds him because a blade’s color rarely changes more than once. A Kasugai crow told him that he could only do it with a strong grip. He agrees to go beyond his own limits to defend everyone now that he knows everything.

Obanai believes he made a mistake when attempting to turn his Nichirin blade red because his peripheral vision is nearly completely blanked out, leading to a false perception of his blade’s color. Obanai grabs his Nichirin blade with all his might, despite his lack of oxygen almost knocking him out in the middle of the fight. Sanemi shouts to alert Obanai that one of Muzan’s tentacles is coming straight at him as he muses to himself. Giyu tries but fails to save Obanai from Muzan’s attack. Obanai, on the other hand, is airborne, avoiding Muzan’s attack. The Demon Lord sends one of his arm’s tentacles at Hashira, but she dodges it once more. Muzan’s confusion is compounded when his arm, which had attacked Obanai, is severed without him knowing why. The Demon Lord examines the cut and determines that it was not made by Gyomei’s spiked flail or axe, nor by Sanemi’s blade, which does not make rigid cuts, nor by Giyu’s, who only supports other Hashira. It can’t be Obanai, because his blade couldn’t reach his limb despite glowing red, and his dodge trajectory is strange, almost as if someone grabbed the Serpent Hashira to keep him away from the attack. Neither Sanemi’s nor Giyu’s blades, which do not make rigid cuts and only support the other Hashira. It can’t be Obanai, because his blade couldn’t reach his limb despite glowing red, and his dodge trajectory is strange, almost as if someone grabbed the Serpent Hashira to keep him away from the attack.

The same cut occurs again, and he realizes that only a ridged blade could make such a clean cut. The Demon Lord suddenly realizes that “they” are present, despite the fact that Tamayo’s assistant’s Blood Demon Art has rendered them invisible. Muzan summons Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Kanao, as well as the headbands cut by Yushiro’s Blood Demon Art: Headband. Gyomei is surprised and amazed that they are still alive, to which Inosuke responds angrily, “Of course they are.” Inosuke responds angrily, “Of course they are.” He then throws more Yushiro headbands around, causing him to exclaim that Muzan’s attacks are ineffective. Sanemi realizes that the bright red Nichirin Blades have a use against Musan after seeing Obanai sever both of Muzan’s arms and some of his tendrils with a serpent’s breath technique, and after seeing the Demon Lord’s regeneration slowed down.

Zenitsu puts on one of Yushiro’s headbands and attacks with Thunder Breath, first form: Thunderclap and Flash. Kanao grabs one of Inosuke’s headbands, turns invisible, and uses the Flower Breathing Technique, Fourth Form: Crimson Hanagoromo. Muzan, enraged, orders the Demon Slayers to abandon their pathetic plans, but Obanai interrupts him with the Breathing Serpent, Third Form: Coil Choke. Gyomei is relieved that Obanai’s blade is still red and that the Demon Slayer Corps’ human strength has grown since Kanao, Zenitsu, and Inosuke joined the fight. As a result, he has time to clash his ax and spiked flail, turning them bright red, and using his flail to demolish a portion of Muzan’s torso. Sanemi quickly alerts Giyu by striking his Nichirin Blade against the latter’s, turning both blades bright red. Sanemi declares that one hour and three minutes until dawn is more than enough to tear the Demon Lord to shreds, as a Kasugai crow informs everyone. Meanwhile, Yushiro injects another antidote for Muzan’s poison into Tanjiro, and Murata is concerned that he injected too much. Yushiro is enraged, claiming that Tanjiro has been in such bad shape for a long time because of Muzan’s attacks. Yushiro then inquires as to what Murata is up to, to which Murata responds that he is attempting to persuade Tanjiro to lay down his Nichirin Blade. Tanjiro’s pulse returns and he opens his remaining eye, regaining consciousness. Back on the battlefield, Goto sees the Demon Slayers defeating Muzan Kibutsuji and is filled with hope.

Inosuke exclaims to the others that he wants his blades to be bright red as well, and Sanemi dons one of Yushiro’s headbands. Sanemi screams at Inosuke, “You’re not strong enough!” and uses Wind Blast, Seventh Form: Gale. Muzan is experiencing strong winds. Gyomei, now that he has more time to concentrate, tries to reenter the Transparent World (Sukitru Sekai?) by listening to echoes from the Demon Lord’s body, just as he did against Top Rank One Kokushibo. He succeeds and sees multiple hearts and brains within the Demon Lord’s body. The Demon Lord was able to create multiple hearts and brains, despite the organs’ overall complexity and functions, which is why he was able to survive a decapitation so easily. They also don’t have a fixed location and are constantly moving, making them extremely difficult to hit. However, he tries to make the best of the situation by granting others access to the Transparent World, including Obanai Iguro, who was able to see through Muzan’s body for a split second.

Muzan Kibutsuji suddenly waved his tendrils and arm tentacles even more wildly than before, causing a massive din and jolts that even Goto could feel from outside the battlefield. He looks around and sees no Hashira or other Demon Slayers fighting Muzan, and he’s puzzled as to what happened. Peering closer, he notices Gyomei has crashed into the building he was hiding behind, his left leg completely destroyed at the knee. Sanemi was thrown to the top of a nearby building, Giyu was thrown to the bottom of another with his severed right arm, Obanai and Zenitsu were thrown to another, and Inosuke collapsed to the ground with one of his Nichirin Blades broken. Despite being on his knees, drenched in blood, and his Nichirin Blade broken, Kanao remains the only fighter on the ground after Muzan Kibutsuji knocks down all of the Hashira, Inosuke, and Zenitsu. As she tries to force herself to fight, Tanjiro Kamado returns to the battlefield, aided by Yushiro’s medicine, and uses the Hinokami Kagura: Beneficent Radiance to cut off both of Muzan’s arms and save Kanao. Tanjiro apologizes for being late in assisting everyone in defeating the Demon Lord and asks Goto to look after Kanao. Muzan and Tanjiro converse as Tanjiro returns his attention to him.

Tanjiro mulls over his memories and visions, noting that now that he has witnessed Yoriichi’s true breathing style, he has noticed the proper technique and style for performing the dance, such as the proper wrist angles, footwork, and breathing rhythms. He thanks Yoriichi for saving his ancestor and imparting the Breath of the Sun to him while he still has access to the “Transparent World,” and realizes that the twelve forms had to be linked together until dawn to make the Demon Lord wait. Although Tanjiro remains skeptical of his own abilities, given that even Yoriichi was unable to kill Muzan, he strengthens his resolve by recalling Kyojuro Rengoku’s advice to keep his heart burning. As a result,

Tanjiro notices Muzan’s new tendrils in his thighs as he approaches, realizing that the Demon’s shapeshifting abilities have led to the defeat of Hashira and his friends. Meanwhile, Muzan lashes out at the approaching Demon Slayer, recognizing the young boy as the mythical Yoriichi’s ghost. Despite Muzan’s whips slashing Tanjiro, the latter fends off the attack, believing the Demon Lord has nine tendril-like whips on his back, eight more on his thighs, and two tentacles on his arms, and begins using the Breath of the Sun: Dance, Raging Sun, and Wheel of Fire in that order. Muzan notices that as Tanjiro begins to use the Thirteenth Form, the creatures who see death become even more determined to achieve their goal. He knows that in order to avoid death, one must open a door of force and perception that is useless in everyday life, and that those who do not open this door will die, while those who do will not. Tanjiro opened the door as well as the other Hashira by turning his Nichirin Blade bright red without using his sister’s Blood Demon Art. Tanjiro continues to fight the Demon Lord with the Sun’s Breath: Dragon Sun Halo Head Dance and Fire Wheel, noting that he has connected six of the Sun’s Breath’s twelve forms.

He and the other Hashira both opened the door. He and the other Hashira both opened the door. Tanjiro continues to fight the Demon Lord with the Sun’s Breath: Dragon Sun Halo Head Dance and Fire Wheel, noting that he has connected six of the Sun’s Breath’s twelve forms. Tanjiro tells himself that his brain and heart are “spinning,” that his lungs are being abused, and that his limbs are being ripped off almost entirely. As his arms numb and his blade Nichirin dulls with only an hour until dawn, Tanjiro continues to tell himself to focus and think of nothing but this exact moment. Tanjiro continues with Breathing the Sun: Fake Rainbow and Burning Bones, Summer Sun by focusing on that single second and attempting to tie it together and repeat it until dawn. As Muzan’s Nichirin Blade becomes normal, he realizes that the Demon Slayer’s techniques lose their precision. Even though the Demon Lord appears to have struck the Demon Slayer a few times, the latter’s other attacks are dodged and bypassed. Tanjiro’s movements are lackluster and far from their peak due to his own poison, which greatly disturbs the Demon Lord. Furthermore, due to the poison, his technique’s accuracy continues to deteriorate, leaving him exhausted, which is the exact opposite of the Thirteenth Form’s goal. Muzan, on the other hand, is perplexed as to why he is unable to kill a single Demon Slayer who is exhausted. His technique’s accuracy continues to deteriorate, leaving him exhausted, which is completely counter to the Thirteenth Form’s purpose.

Muzan, on the other hand, is perplexed as to why he is unable to kill a single Demon Slayer who is exhausted. Muzan suddenly realizes that he is the slow one, as the poison he carries inside Tanjiro ensured that this one-on-one duel would not have lasted long. Tanjiro uses Sun Breathing: Solar Heat Haze, Beneficent Radiance, Clear Blue Sky, Fire Wheel, Raging Sun, and Flame Dance after Muzan finally realizes he has aged over nine millennia. Muzan yells angrily at the Demon Slayer to stop jumping around, but he continues to perform the Sun Breathing: Fake Rainbow, Dance, Setting Sun Transformation, Burning Bones, Summer Sun, Dragon Sun Halo Head Dance, and Sunflower Thrust. He was able to link the twelve forms together and create the Sun Breathing: Form Thirteen.

Yushiro, Murata, and another Demon Slayer find Chachamaru maimed on the ground on the other side of the battlefield.Yushiro quickly replaces Chachamaru, relieved that he is safe and sound. The others are taken aback because they had no idea Chachamaru had turned demonic. They quickly distribute Muzan’s Poison Serum to the remaining Demon Slayers, with Murata giving it to Goto, who injects it into Kanao, and another Demon Slayer to Inosuke. Meanwhile, Yushiro is repairing Gyomei’s leg, which has been severely damaged. He then begs Tamayo to protect Tanjiro to the best of his ability. Speaking for himself, the latter continues to fight the Demon Lord with the Sun’s Breath. To maximize the effectiveness of the twelve techniques, the young Demon Slayer realizes that he must specifically target each of Muzan’s vital organs. This is how he tries to enter the “Transparent World” again in order to locate the Demon Lord’s vital organs, but he is unable to do so due to a lack of oxygen. He then tries to locate the organs using his sense of smell, but quickly loses his footing and is exposed to one of the Demon Lord’s whips.

Someone saves Tanjiro from certain death, with Muzan’s attacks hitting the building behind him and completely leveling him. Tanjiro recalls a familiar odor and regains consciousness. Obanai Iguro was identified as the figure who rescued him. He cries out Iguro’s name with joy, but his joy quickly turns to shock when he sees his scarred face. Zenitsu arrives with the Thunder Breathing, First Form: Thunderclap and Flash, Godspeed, as Inosuke continues to overwhelm the Demon Lord with his bestial breath, Fourth Fang: Slice ‘n’ Dice, the latter noticing that one of his legs is… He uses the seventh form of thunder breath, Honoikazuchi no Kami, to strike Muzan in the chest while saying this. Zenitsu, on the other hand, realizes that the cut is superficial and that if he had used a bright red Nichirin Blade, he would have done far more damage. Inosuke enters with his Beast Breath, which includes the Fifth Fang: Crazy Cutting and the Third Fang: Devour. Muzan uses his shockwave technique to stop his barrage and then uses his tendrils to maim him, with Zenitsu attempting to prevent the Demon Lord from doing so.

Fortunately, Tanjiro uses the Sun Breath to save Inosuke from Muzan’s attack: Summer Sun, Burning Bones, the former takes advantage of the opportunity to keep blocking the Demon Lord with the Sun Breath: Raging Sun, Wheel of Fire, and Beneficent Radiation. He knows that if he keeps attacking Muzan, the latter will be unable to use the shockwave attack repeatedly because it takes time to charge up enough to do insignificant damage. Furthermore, each time he employs this technique, his normal attacks become noticeably slower. Tanjiro then launches into the Solar Heat Haze with the Sun Breathing: Dragon Sun Halo Head Dance, but spits blood, allowing Muzan to swing one of his tentacle arms towards him, but Inosuke saves him with his Beast Breathing, Sixth Fang: Palisade Bite. With Breath of the Sun: Dance of Flames, Clear Blue Sky, and False Rainbow, Tanjiro can counterattack the Demon Lord.

Zenitsu tries to push forward in order to assist his two companions. He then begs his cultivator/master Jigoro Kuwajima’s spirit to shove him in the back one more time. This empowers him to perform Thunder Breathing, First Form: Thunderclap, and Flash. This allows his two companions, the Breath of the Sun: Dance and the Breath of the Beast, Fifth Fang: Crazy Cutting, to release their respective breathing styles. Inosuke is told by Tanjiro not to stop attacking Muzan. He continues with the Sun Breathing: Setting Sun Transformation and tries to use the Solar Halo Dragon Head Dance, but he loses his footing and comes to a halt in the Demon Lord’s footsteps. However, Zenitsu intervenes with the breath of thunder, first form: Thunderclap and Flash, Godspeed, he deflects Muzan’s blow, allowing Tanjiro to use Sun Breathing: Solar Halo Dragon Head Dance, Raging Sun, and finally Sunflower Thrust, which pins him against a building wall. Tanjiro tries to keep Muzan down as much as possible until dawn arrives because he can no longer unleash techniques. Mitsuri Kanroji grabs the Demon Lord’s left arm and tries to slice and stab the young boy with his tentacles and tendrils.

She yells at Muzan to cut him off by ripping his arm off, sacrificing both of his arms in the process. Sanemi then uses the Wind Breathing, Eighth Form: Primary Gale Slash to sever Muzan’s arm and nail it to another point on the wall, preventing it from reattaching to the latter’s body. The Demon Lord’s face and torso then split vertically, revealing massive jaws and teeth attempting to devour Tanjiro in order to conquer the sun. Because dawn is approaching, the latter forces himself not to let go. Obanai, on the other hand, appears in front of Tanjiro just in time to save him from Muzan’s jaws. Sanemi yells at everyone to hold on tight because dawn is approaching. The Horror shoots through Muzan’s body as soon as he sees the sun, and he unleashes his Shockwave Technique one last time, knocking everyone back except Tanjiro, who has his left arm blown off. Despite the chaos that ensues, Tanjiro clings to his blade as tightly as he can in order to turn it bright red, repeating Kyojuro’s words, “Ignite your heart!” Giyu miraculously comes to Tanjiro’s aid and grabs Tanjiro’s Nichirin Blade with his remaining arm.

The blade glows bright red thanks to the combined power of the two Demon Slayers. Muzan spits blood as the blade turns red, and as the sun shines brighter, he screams in terror at the top of his lungs. Muzan goes on to say that if he shrinks, he will instantly burn. He must therefore protect himself with a body/a mass of flesh if he is to survive. This causes his body to expand in all directions, transforming him into a massive demonic child. The giant child absorbs Tanjiro into his body and crawls around the building to reach the shadow, much to everyone’s surprise. Kiriya screams for the Demon Slayer Corps to intervene and prevent the Demon Lord from entering the shadows. Everyone does everything they can to prevent the giant child from slipping into the shadows, throwing bookcases and ramming it with cars. A bus-train is being pushed by a dozen Kakushi to keep the infant from seeking shade from the sun. Sanemi leaps into the air and unleashes the Ninth Form of Wind Blast: Idaten Typhoon, severing the child’s hand in its tracks as he tries to overturn the bus-train and hit the Kakushi with his right hand.

Hashira curses him and begs the demonic baby to turn into dust as he collapses on the ground. An iron chain wraps around the giant’s neck and pulls him away from the bus-train just as the child was about to tip it over. Giyu returns to the fight and uses the tenth form of Water Breathing: Constant Flow on the Demonic Child, but because he only has one arm left, he doesn’t deal as much damage as the others. Sanemi joins the fight with Obanai Iguro, using Wind Breath, Fifth Form: Cold Mountain Wind, while Kaburamaru keeps Yushiro’s headbands on and uses Serpent’s Breath, Fourth Form: Cold Mountain Wind. Serpent with Two Heads Despite all of their combined attacks on the Demon Lord, the giant child continues to sink into the earth. Tanjiro continues to grip his Nichirin Blade as hard as he can as Gyomei’s chain begins to break, bringing out its bright red color. The child then regurgitates a large amount of blood from his mouth, which prevents him from sinking any further. The demon child, unable to flee the sun, moans and bawls as it disintegrates. As a result, the Demon Lord Muzan Kibutsuji died and was forever defeated.

The aftermath of the fight

While Muzan’s defeat was significant, it was a costly victory for the Demon Slayers, with dozens of members killed, maimed, and severely injured, and many more on the verge of death. Hashira, Mitsuri, Gyomei, and Obanai are no longer alive. Muzan is driven by his desire for immortality in Tanjiro’s consciousness, and thus bequeaths his knowledge and power to the unconscious boy.

Tanjiro transforms into a demon, causing a new battle to erupt.
