Life Lessons From Demon Slayers
Demon Slayer is hands question one of my favourite anime series of all time as a fan of action and appealing characters. And I’m not the only one who believes this. Demon Slayer is a popular anime series all around the world. Mugen Train, his debut feature, surpassed Spirited Away as Japan’s highest-grossing film of all time.
The series follows Kamado Tanjiro, a youngster who journeys through Taish-era Japan in search of the demon who murdered his family.
He also has the responsibility of finding a cure for his sister, Nezuko, who was transformed into a demon as a result of the same catastrophe.
The characters are wonderfully developed, the combat sequences are fierce, and the plot is superb, which is why so many people adore this series. Despite the fact that we do not live in early twentieth-century Japan, many of the life lessons taught in the series can be applied to our own lives. While we (or at least I) wait for Season 2 to premiere later this year, let’s look back at the first season of this amazing show.
Appreciate what you have before it’s gone.
Tanjiro’s family is impoverished, but they are content to live together. Tanjiro goes to town in the first episode to sell charcoal so that his family can eat on New Year’s Day. When his family sends him away, as they do every day, they are joyous and full of life.

Unfortunately, when he goes home, he discovers that his entire family has been slaughtered, and his sister, Nezuko, has been transformed into a demon. His entire life has been flipped upside down, and he often wonders if they would still be alive if he had stayed at home that day.

Take nothing for granted since the people who are currently a part of our lives will not always be there. If Tanjiro’s family has taught us anything, it’s that we should enjoy every minute we have since we never know when we’ll lose it.

Don’t be afraid to protect what’s important to you.
Tanjiro spends the entire first season protecting Nezuko and carrying her in her wooden box.

Tanjiro feels outraged as he witnesses the Spider Demon attacking Nezuko during his struggle with Rui. Tanjiro adopts a novel breathing pattern he’s never tried before to release himself from Rui’s trap and save his last surviving family member.

Tanjiro appears before the Hashira, also known as the ” Pillars,” who are the strongest Demon Slayers in the Corps, in the closing episodes of Season 1. He is accused of violating two of the corps’ key rules: “Kill all demons” and “Do not obstruct other demon slayers from eliminating the enemy.” Despite being reprimanded, he stands up to the higher-ranking members in order to avert his sister’s execution.

Tanjiro holds Nezuko in the highest regard in his life and goes to great measures to protect her from Demons and Demon Slayers. If there are people or things in your life that are extremely important to you, you should fight for them at any costs.
Success takes time
Tanjiro meets Giyuu, the Water Hashira, shortly after his family’s demise, who saves his life and spares Nezuko. He suggests Tanjiro to his own teacher, Urokodaki, who agrees to train him as a demon slayer.

After a year of rigorous training, Urokodaki tells Tanjiro that he taught him everything he could. His final task is to cut a specific rock in half using what he has learned.

Tanjiro tries for over six months to complete this work, but he fails. He then meets Sabito and Makomo, two previous Urokodaki students who advise him on how to continue using his powers for another six months. Finally, he succeeds in halving the rock, demonstrating that his two years of preparation were not in vain.

In life, we sometimes go through periods when we think we are going nowhere. But with a little help from the people around us, we will get where we want to be.
always be kind

Because of his outgoing and pleasant demeanour, Tanjiro is considered as one of the friendliest anime protagonists. Tanjiro’s entire family is slain by a demon at the start of the series, but despite this, he manages to remain compassionate and have empathy for others.
As a measure of respect, Tanjiro advises his eldest, Giyuu, not to step on Rui’s garments after their argument with him.
He understands that Rui was a human being who deserved to be treated as such, even after he died.

Tanjiro hates demons but understands that they have their own pain to deal with. We never know what someone may be going through, which is why we should always show kindness when we can.
Not everything is black or white
Despite the fact that demons are depicted as malevolent beings who kill and eat people without compassion, the anime makes it obvious that they were once human. They used to be individuals with their own lives and stories to tell. Most of them were forced or persuaded into becoming demons, rather than choosing to be bad. Even as demons, some of them want to help humanity rather than hunt.

Tanjiro encounters Tamayo and Yushiro, two devils who run a private medical business that helps people. They still require human blood to survive, but they obtain it from people who give blood to them.
Demons are commonly thought to be “evil,” however not all of them meet this description.
It’s all too simple in life to label things as “good” or “bad.”
There are, however, numerous exceptions to this rule.
Before creating our own assumptions, we should always take a step back to examine things objectively.
If you can only do one thing, hone it to perfection
.
One of Tanjiro ‘s closest friends, Zenitsu, uses the Thunder Breathing style to kill demons. Although the Thunder Breathing style has 6 forms, or 6 “moves”, Zenitsu only knows one form throughout the first season.

Zenitsu is a coward who is terrified of learning how to slay demons, which is why he only learns one move, “Thunderclap and Flash.” His teacher Kuwajima shared this quote with him when he was discouraged by his inability to learn or accomplish more: “If you can only do one thing, refine it to perfection.” This is exactly what Zenitsu does, and he has mastered it thoroughly.
Not everyone can be a jack of all trades; we are sometimes only skilled in one or two areas.
What matters is that we give it our all in all we undertake.
It’s normal to cry. It’s normal to run away. But never give up
Zenitsu also learns from his time with Kuwajima, the previous Thunder Hashira, that it’s normal to grieve and be sad, but he should never give up. Zenitsu tries to flee multiple times throughout his training, but he is always captured in the end. He tells his teacher that demons are too terrible for him, and that he is terrified of death.

Zenitsu, on the other hand, never quits up and eventually passes the final selection exam. He is also one of only five pupils out of a total of 20 that made it all the way through. Zenitsu never gives up on his goal after the ordeal, remembering his teacher’s teachings at all times.
Zenitsu tells us that being terrified and crying are both acceptable emotions.
But, in order to attain our objectives, we must always pick ourselves up and keep pushing forward.
You can do a lot more than you think
Zenitsu is limited to only one move, which he can only utilise while sleeping. When he is unconscious, he may fight with high-level talents merely by instinct. He defeated the Brother Spider Demon on his own, unintentionally defeating one of the Tsuzumi Mansion Demons. He wakes up believing that the young boy he was guarding killed the monster for him the first time we see his unique combat technique.

Although it is a comical moment, it also teaches us that sometimes we are not aware of our potential or our skills. We can do great things if we believe in ourselves and keep pushing the limits of what we can do.
The mind alone will get you nowhere.
Most anime protagonists survive pitfalls and ridiculous situations just because they’re the main characters.

In his battle with Kyogai, Tanjiro finds that he can’t vanquish the drumming humanoid monster with his wits alone. He needs to utilise his head and come up with a better approach because he is still healing from an injury.

It’s beneficial to have a mind. It encourages and pushes you to reach your objectives, but you must match that energy with your actions. You can’t just talk and do nothing, as they say. It will be easier for you to get what you desire if you combine your intellect and emotions.
If you want to move forward, you have to leave the past behind.

Tanjiro recognises Kazumi’s anguish and encourages him that despite his losses, he must continue to live. Although the teen is chatting to his mourning fiancé, he also appears to be speaking to himself.
Since of what is happening to his family, Tanjiro endures a profound tragedy, yet he must continue to live because he knows they would.
We must learn to embrace our history and let go of the “what ifs” in order to move forward in our life.
